Pre Raymond Belchamp
28 June 2026 - Found bad link in Impressions page.
I am highly suspicious of the information found on Fandom/Familypedia.
I may have confused the John Raymond of Essendon, either father of son of another John Raymond.
The reference to Judith Cockayne of Bedford was obtained from a dubious source, Familypedia.
This page was getting impressions (after the first censor) and the Sparrow page did not. I seem to remember that the Sparrow page was getting Impressions before I changed the names so that they could not be found using a regular alphabet search.
28 June 2026 - I need to work out a few dates here.
29 June 2026 - I had two hidden notes sections. My notes on Sparrow and the censor were not showing.
My page on Belchamp Walter in the Elizabethan era needs to be updated. The information on Elizabeth I needs to be removed to the ER I page. Belchamp Walter at this time period was more to do with the Montgomery's and the Wentworths. While there appears to be a connection developing between the Raymonds and the Sparrow families it is not clear and the situation is not helped by the likes of Familypedia.
Judith Cockayne - 16th Century
The marriage of John Raymond of Essenden to Judith Cockayne in 1550??? may explain why the manor of Belchamp Walter "came" to its current owners. Or at least adds to the political background.

of Esseden was born sometime before 1550 and he and Judith had a son which they called Roger in 1580.

Roger and ???? (a daughter of a John Elliot) had a son, John Raymond I who was the
purchaser of Belchamp Hall in 1611.
