Judith Cockayne
The marriage of John Raymond of Essenden to Judith Cockayne in 1550??? may explain
why the manor of Belchamp Walter "came" to its current owners. Or at least adds to the political background.
This page is part of an on-going research project on the history of Belchamp Walter and
the manor of Belchamp Walter.
If you have found it making a web search looking for geneological or other information on the village then please bookmark this page and return

to this one.
I need to work out a few dates here.
Quote from familypedia.wikia.org:
Judith Cockayne was born circa 1550 in Bedfordshire, England, United Kingdom to Chad Cockayne (c1520-c1595)
and Elizabeth Luke (c1525-).
She married John Raymond (c1550-) in England, United Kingdom.
This John Raymond is not the
John Raymond 1 of Belchamp Walter.
However, this is where some of the dates go a little strange or unclear. John Raymond
of Esseden was born sometime before 1550 and he and Judith had a son which they called Roger in 1580.
Roger and ???? (a daughter of a John Elliot) had a son, John Raymond I who was the
purchaser of Belchamp Hall in 1611.

This page was getting impressions (after the first censor) and the
Sparrow page did not. I seem to remember that the
Sparrow page was getting Impressions before I changed the names so that they could not be found using a
regular alphabet search.
