The Twentieth century is probably of most interest to those that are interested in the village.
The owners of Belchamp Hall
- Samuel Philip - b. 1886 - d. 1974
- Michael Murray - b.1923 d. ???? - not much can be found on Michael while dead unknown he waas recommended for an M.C. in 1945
- Charles Valentine - b. 1965
Updating pages related to the clergy and the development of the Church of England it is obvious that the 20th century saw some interesting developments between the church and the village. The world wars are recorded in both on the War Memorial and in the Burial Register.
13 July 2026 - I noticed that there is no link back to the Twentieth Century and the residents of Belchamp Hall in 1902 and 1914. Kelly's 1902 has a Mrs Raymond and 1914 has Captain William Gibbs listed as living in Belchamp Hall. The Parish Council Cemetery has a Henry Penrose Rushton Coode as a former resident of the Hall. Coode died in 1928.
Belchamp Walter in the 20th Century
On the surface Belchamp Walter in the 20th Century is pretty much what you see
today. However, many changes took place over that time period.
The country and the world were in an era post Industrial Relvolution
but had to face the havoc of two World Wars.
In a similar manner to some of the 19th Century there is local news that is
reported in the press.

Belchamp Walter in the Twentieth Century covers both World Wars and things were tough at times.
Rather than the image portrayed in Downton 2 - "A New Era", things were very different here at that time. Life at the Hall may have been fine, due to the involvement with the Church, but things were pretty grim in the village in the earler years of the century. Many residents lives were lost in the two World Wars.
The accounts of what life was like in the village have been recorded and they should be made available for those that are interested.
