The Scrivener (Scrivner) Family
The Scrivener Family have long been associated with the Village of Belchamp Walter.
Records have been found that place them at Croft Cottages, Rookery Farm, and South Waver Cottages (Poplar Road - now Gestingthorpe Road).
It is assumed that the Scrivner family recorded in the 1851 census is the same as the Scrivener family from the 1891 census. The entry in the Belchamp Walter Burial Register uses the Scrivener spelling and that is what is on the tombstones.
Rookery Farm
Rookery Farm is East of the main village of Belchamp Walter. It is not far from Eyston Hall on Otten road towards Sudbury, near Finch Hill (South of Borley green).
Croft Cottages
The Croft Cottages are located on Hall Road running East from the cross-roads in Belchamp Walter.
The Scrivener family are seen here and at Rookery Farm and Poplar Road (Gestingthorpe Road). There are also burials recorded in the Belchamp Walter Cemetery.
