Let's Encrypt

Let's Encrypt is a free SSL Certificate service. It can be configured so that the SSL Certificate can be automatically installed.

My experience with Let's Encrypt is with the hosting services HostingUK.net and TSOHost.com.

The discussion on the EFF website describes the history behind the initiatiative to provide free SSL certification.

The administration of the certificates is different for the two services, HostingUK is administered through the Plesk interface and the TSOHost through the GridHost Control Panel.

This was something that I came across when I was debugging the email for the Village Hall website.

Failure to renew certificates

I started seeing this in 2021. However it seemed to rectify itself on its own.

In Novemeber 2021 I received an email from the administrator of my web host telling me that the certificates failed to issue/renew for this domain. The remedy was to log-in to Plesk and do so manually. I tried this to no avail.

As I had not updated this page to the new layout I thought it would be a good idea to do so and submit it for re-indexing by Google just in case someone else was looking for a solution. I will post my solution when/if I find one.

I can still access my site on https:// but the https://wwww. address triggers an "unsafe" message (in Edge at least). Also, I can click on pages in GSC reports and they will load, this does not happen in GA - the "Unsafe" message appears with the www. subdomain trying to load?????
