The importance of securing your website

November 2021, I think that things have changed since I first looked at securing my websites. Microsoft Edge and Firefox no longer seem to want to load pages from sites that they cannot get a valid certificate. You used to be able to by-pass this, but no longer.

The problem that I am having is that the Let's Encrypt SSL certificate is not renewing properly on this website. At the time of writing this I am not sure if it is something that I have done or if there is a current problem with the Let's Encrypt renewal process. I see that my page is attracting some visits after I had posted that I was having a problem and I was holding off raising a ticket until I could see if this was the case.

Coincidence?

I would hope that this is a coincidence that my problems occured at the same time that there was a report that cyber-attacks are at an all-time high. These attacks seem to revolve around "ransom-ware" demands, which I have reported in the past as being very much Social Engineering problems. Never-the-less, I can see why Microdoft and Apple now are upping the anti on browser security and pretty much insisting on SSL and the use of HTTPS.
