The tempusfugit.me.uk website is hosted on HostingUK.net.
To answer the question about whether hostingUK.net are a "good" hosting service I an report that I have had not problems with them that have not been fixed promptly.
I chose HostingUK as my web host because they use the Plesk Panel for site administration. I also administer another website where the host, TSOHost, who do not use Plesk and I find that their interface is far too resistrive.
If you search for hosting packages there are a multitude of services that will offer you a deal on domain registration, sometimes for free, but little mention on how you go about having that domain hosted.
There seems to be an implicit notion that they are one and the same. Domain Registration and site hosting that is. Hosting is the "meat and potatoes", Domain Registration is trivial and just a paperwork exercise.
Currently the cost of a Domain registration and hosting, through hostingUK.net is £53 per year.
The Control Panel
On futher inspection of other hosting services this method of control for hosting is quite common. It looks like that the Plesk product, by Parallels, is just an implementaion of CPanel, a Linux-based web hosting control panel.
These seem to be a little different to that I have become accustomed with my Canadian host.
Free DNS and email forwarding
The HostingUK site says that a new domain comes with dns free, configurable through an easy to use DNS editor.
My first plan for the Parish Council website was to purchase a new hosting package from HostingUK.net. Now I think that I can just purchase a new Domain Name and then point it to a directory on this websites hosting. This will reduce the cost to the PC to just that of the Domain Name.
