The integration of the WooCommerce plugin with Wordpress
WooCommerce is supposedly free to install and use with Wordpress. I have seen quoted in many places that while the plug-in is free there are other costs to take into account. While some of these, such as domain registration and hosting (which is part of a Wordpress setup), have been made for the Village Hall website and therefore not a problem.
There is still the question of the Payment Gateway
What websitebuilderexpert say:
As I was saying the bit you will have to pay for is the processing of the credit card payments through a service such as PayPal or Stripe.
I started to look at WooCommerce as it was offered "free" with the Wordpress subscription that I was administering at the time. There was a request to be able to be able to process on-line payments for the village hall website.
As it turned out, it was not free, just the facility to add the "Block" to your pages. To actually process payments you had to sign up to a payment gateway. This meant that you needed a business account for you business and you needed to be registered with Companies House. While this could be done for the village hall I was not prepared to do this for them.
