SEO - thoughts for 2021
Early in 2021 I decided to give Google Search Console a run for it money. I have used it in the past to remove URLs from the Google Index but I was prompted to see what I could do to include my pages in the index. This is not new and I tended to dismiss it as I did with Google Analytics.
So far I have learned a lot about Canonical URLs, sitemaps, submitting pages for index and the error reports generated by Google.
Working with Google - not "fighting" them
There was a time that SEO, or least what I was exposed to, was the explanation of ways to "outwit" Google to get your web pages ranking higher in their search results. It seems that Google have now recognised that webmasters want to promote their websites in any way they can.
With Google Search Console you are able to see (understand) how Google crawls and indexes your site.
Domain properties and GSC
Using the Domain Property: "tempusfugit.me.uk" was how I setup Google Search Console for this website. I am using this profile (property) to determine and correct errors/problems reported by GSC.
