Requesting re-indexing
In my attempts to get as many pages in the Google index I have been submitting pages using the URL Inspection tool to determine whether the pages have been indexed.
My proceedure is coupled with the validation of my pages and checking that the format is correct. To do this I have to check that the validation link is not set to my about page.
The page is validated and all errors corrected. When the page passes I can then make a request for a re-index. The problem is that many of the page are in the index and those that are not have to be kept track of as it seems that there are only 10 requests in the quota.
I have different catagories for URL inspection below.
- The Working list
- Pages that I don't know are in the index as I have exceeded my check quota
- Pages the I want to reindex as I have made changes
This is a working list:
The list will change after the page has been submitted. There should be at least 10 in this list to start the re-index request cycle.
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/frith.html - not sure if I did this - still not on Google
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/henry_1.html - needs links fixing
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/henry_2.html - Needs content and links to Stephen and the Anarchy
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/lamarsh.html - needs to have place names (new) stuff added.
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/impressions_no_clicks.html - needs content and then re-index
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/impressions.html as above add using quota and URL submission
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/belchamp_walter_pc.html - have updated the page
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/selling_heritage.html - needs content
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/jerusalem.html - needs a lot more content
Pages that I don't know are in the index
Due to the limit on the number of URLs that you can check there are pages that I have validated but I don't know if they have been indexed.
There is a whole load of stuff relating to databases and ERP that I want in the index.
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/the_friends_of_st_mary_belchamp_walter_3.html - page redirected at server - withdrawn
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/carousel_accessibility.html - has issues - not mobile friendly = uses a pre tag
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/thatching_munt.html - has redirect at server
- https://belchampwalterpc.uk/enews.html
- https://belchampwalterpc.uk/pcc.html - note that the friends page is not the page in BWPC - the page on the server is friends_working.html
Fortunately the quota resets on this pretty quickly so it is not a problem unless I am doing a mege chack.
Pages I want to reindex - because I have made updates
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/carlton.html - not in index but appeared in server logs - need to add to page
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/css_media_query.html - Has a problem with the Pre tag again
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/transparent_png.html -- needs menu fix
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/finchingfield.html - added text from ESAH - reindex after reformated.
- https://tempusfugit.me.uk/wickham_st_pauls.html - need to add ESAH text format as above
Duplicates and Google Selected Canonical
I had a problem with html_enties.html when I was validting and checking that it was indexed.
I renamed it no_want.html - I deleted html_enties.html from the server, but it is still in the index.
I requests a removal and then when this is registered I will validate fix. The request indexing of no_want.html - Check to see if html_etities.html is referenced from other pages.
I know that I had problems with this page as I renamed it twice, the last was dobby.html. None of these are really what I want to say so I am going to re-write no_want.html
