Using the Google Removal Tool
As a webmaster there are a number of reasons that you may wish to remove a page from the Google Index.
As an Internet user you may want information about you or your business that you object to be removed from Google (or the Internet
in general).
As a user you will have to ask the owner of the website to remove information that you don't like.
The exception to this is content that Google determines as a violation of the law and/or their terms and conditions.
Simply deleting a page from a website does not mean that it won't still show up when an Internet user makes a Google search. The page has to be removed from the Google Index for the "impression" not to appear.

Other Search Engines
It would seem that other search engines such as Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo have their own ways of doing things!
I do not have the same level of control over these search engines. This makes the inappropriate posting of pages a little more problematic.
Other reasons you may want to remove a page from search results
If you are running more than one website and you want the page and topic from one website to the other you may wish to delete the page from one and add it to the other. You will also have to tell Google that you have done this or those searching for it will get a file not found (404) response.
