A revamp of my designs
This page is a recap of my design process.
My main concern was that the Parish Council site looked too similar to my main site.
The template was taken from the W3.css framework - the "portfolio" template.
I will (I have developed) develop the new page on tempusfugit.me.uk and (have linked) link to the live Parish Council detail pages. If this works out well I will consider changing the detail pages with a new template.
I based the "detail" pages on another W3 template - I think it was the "Coming Soon" template.
The Portfolio Template
Purposely not choosing the simplest template in an effort to actually learn somthing, I chose the Portfolio template.
Both the "Portfolio" and the "Coming Soon" templates has complete sourcecode on the W3C Schools website and that is what I modified for my own designs. The templates are not really explained well on the W3C Schools site although there is a complete reference for the W3 Framework.
Having used the new template design for a while I have concluded that while the code is not as intuatiive for me to maintain it certainly gives me a completely different look.
Going forward I am not sure whether I would reccomend anyone taking over the Parish Council website (and now the page for The Friends of St. Mary's Belchamp Walter) that they continue with these templates.
Social Media links
I decided to leave these on the overlay menu as if Sara delivers she will try and get some linkage with Social Media - So far I have left this off the Village Hall site although Wordpress does have that linkage built in. If Sara wants to persue this she can be the person that "feeds" both the Parish Council and the Village Hall.
Sara is now one of the admins for the BW Facebook page and she asked me to feature a charity link on the Village Hall site to Amazon Smile. I did this and I have now been asked to add links to social media on the Parish Council website in an attempt to promote The Friends of St. Mary Belchamp Walter.
