Gestingthorpe Road, Belchamp Walter

Gestingthorpe Road, Belchamp Walter runs South from the crossroads and strangly towards Gestingthorpe. The dwellings that are currently, 2023, located on Gestingthorpe Road include The Old Forge, Plum Tree Cottage, Waverley House, Upper Croft Cottages and a number of 20th Century houses that end with the sewage treatment plant.

The map below is from the 1890's and shows the crossroads at Belchamp Walter and Gestingthorpe Road running South.

The 1891 Census seems to omit an entry for the Old Forge. Waverley House and Upper Croft Cottages. In addtion the refrence to Poplar Road would tend to suggest that Gestingthorpe Road was named Poplar Road at the time.
