Reirect Error - Google Search Console

Belchamp Walter

There are few reports that Google Search Console will generate that detail "redirection". There are multiple reasons why this may occur with your websites pages.

Since starting this page I have learnt a lot relating to the reasons that a redirect can be made by Google search.

My original thoughts centered around that when I checked some of my pages using GSC I was being told that they were not indexed and needed to be to appear in search. This is kinda obvious, but I thought that it was just a configuration error on my part.

Since that time I have made sure that all of my pages have a Canonical link tag on every page and I have noted that my hosting service redirects accesses to non secured pages to secured ones (https://).

Original thoughts

When I started to look at this I thought that the redirect was due to my mis-configuring of my Domain Property settings. I was getting the following error after using the URL Checker (Inspector) in GSC:

The error reported was:

URL is not on Google: Indexing errors
It cannot appear in Google Search results until it is indexed

Possible reason maybe Domain Property

When I originally setup Google Search Console I was unaware of the issue with Canonical URLs.
Although I setup GSL using my Domain name (property) https://tempusfugit.me.uk (or it could have been http://) it was for the removal of a URL. Since that time I started using GSC for more analysis and saw that I was getting non-canonical messages and errors and re-directs.
These were from http://tempus...., https://tempus... and http://www.tempus... URLs for the same page.
