Planning Applications in Belchamp Walter
The Belchamp Walter Parish Council has setup a Planning Group. All planning applications will be reviewed by the group and discussed if it is felt that it is needed.
Various concerns have been voiced by parishioners about certian plans and building projects that don't appear to have planning.
The planning process
Braintree District Council (BDC) send out notices of Planning Applications to Parish Council clerks for those applications that are relevent to their Parish.
The Belchamp Walter Parish Council (BWPC) has made a decision that under the clerks disgression relevant Planning Applications will be posted to the Parish Council Website.
It should also be noted that any Planning Application for the region of BDC can be viewed on-line by any member of the public by visiting their website (link below) and making a search for open and closed (decisions) Applications over the time that BDC have been publishing them. If you have a concern about an application not being made or obeyed I suggest that you make an independent search.
Commenting on a Planning Application
BDC have a comprehensive "public access" website that allows anyone who has an interest in an application to make a comment. Your will have to register with BDC and be logged-in to make a comment.
When you register you will be sent a link to the email that you give BDC that will complete the registration process. This prevents anonymous commenting from bogus email accounts. You will be asked for your name and address in the registration process.
When you make a comment on an application the applicant will see your name and address and that you have made a supporting or an objection to their application. There are different rules that apply to registering a violation to the terms of a previously permitted application.
Construction/Alterations near a Listed Building
Of course ANY changes to a Listed Property will require approval. In addition there are more restrictive rules that govern the construction and alteration of stuctures, walls, gates and fences situated near a listed building. For example, even a gate that falls within the curtilage of a listed building would need approval.
The list:
This is not a complete or up-to-date list - 22 March 2022

Definition of codes
If you search for these definitions on the Braintree website there seems to be no explanation of these codes. This is the webmaster's interpretation of them. The source for this is the agenda from a Panning Committee March 2019.
- COUPA - Braintree are not specific on this but it seems that this relates to applications related to agricultural buildings and change of use. Change of Use Prior Approval
- DAC - Pending consideration
- HH - ???? Porches and Garages
- FUL - Fulfilled??? - Actually I think that it just full application
- OUT - Withdrawn
I see that I have a visit from Bury St. Edmunds - perhaps there is a concern that I may have seen some building that I cannot find an application?
