My page on Hall Road was getting a lot of attention from 165.120.20.10 (the Tatnall's)
It would seem that the claim that planning permission was not required for the conversion of 2 and 3 Croft Cottages to a single dwelling did not require planning permission. However, the properties are within a Conservation Area and as such special conciderations may apply.
However, the historical relevance of the flint cottages, the Misson Room, Cobweb Cottage and Rose Cottage needs to be noted.
Simon Tatnall seems to be concerned that 2 and 3 Croft Cottages may turn up in a future search and that may affect the sale of their property should they decide to sell it in future. While I have no sympathy for the Tatnalls their departure from the village would be beneficial.

The Belchamp Walter Conservation area covers the roads radiating from the Crossroads and Duck Pond.
The buildings and their surrounding plots are subject to additional restrictions on what can and cannot be performed within this area. Alterations to the structure of the buildings is strictly controlled so that the character of the area is maintained. The addition of extra buildings also need prior permission to be built.
Internal Renovations of dwellings within a Conservation Area
The general rule is that internal renovations do not require planning permission.
