Sir Adam de Peshall was Sheriff of Staffordshire & Shropshire. He was elected to Parliament for Shropshire in 1373 and returned for Staffordshire to four Parliaments between 1377 and 1383.[2]

There were many violent episodes in his career, and he was often hauled before the courts to answer for felonies committed in Shropshire and Staffordshire, though he always escaped severe penalty.

He married Elizabeth de Weston, daughter of Sir John de Weston and Margaret de Wigton, circa 1362; His 1st marriage; her 2nd marriage.[3][4] Through his early first marriage, to Elizabeth Weston, he acquired a portion of the manor of Weston-under-Lizard, to which he added substantially over the years.

Peshale’s second marriage was to Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Philip ap Rees, who, when her father died in August 1369, shared the inheritance of his lands with her sister Mabel, wife of Sir Hugh Wrottesley KG[5]

Sir Adam’s third marriage, which took place before 11 November 1388 (when Joyce and Adam are recorded as husband and wife in a deed[6]), was to Joyce, one of the daughters of the last Lord Botetourt and Joyce la Zouche.[7] They had 2 daughters (Joan, wife of William de Birmingham; & Margaret, wife of Sir Richard Mytton).

On 28 May 1389 Sir Adam de Peshall, Sheriff of Staffordshire & Shropshire and Joyce Botetourt obtained a pardon for marrying Joyce without a royal licence,[8] being fined £5. The marriage involved the participation of John, Lord Clinton, in the sealing of the contract).[9][2]
