Page indexing
When checking your pages using Google Search Console to see if they are indexed and whether you need to submit a request to have them re-indexed, the new reporting is useful:
If you are aggressively trying to get pages indexed it is a good idea to develop a technique to use this report and go to the listing of the pages that are Discovered - currently not indexed.
Using that report you can go through the list and pick to pages that are important to you and re-submit them for indexing. I suggest that you do this until you have reached your quota
The process to do this can be a little tedious as you need to check the page is actually on your server and it is the version that you want indexed and is in the format that you require.
Pages that you have removed
You may find that there are pages that are reported as "Discovered - currently not indexed" that are the result of a previous crawl where you have deleted the file from the server and not entered a request to have the page removed from the index using the removal tool.
If you see a page reported that you no longer want indexed be sure to delete the file from the server as well as submitting a removal request. If you do not it will be re-indexed (possibly) on the next crawl.
