Geneology websites continue to impress and surprise me. There is an obvious wealth of information but getting at it is sometimes a little obtuse.

Wikitree is one of the better geneoloical websites in my opinion.

Wikitree is a good way to find references to research sources. These are often contained in the notes on the profiles.

Background to this page

Having seen that some of my pages have been found by those making an Internet search I have decided to add a bit more context.

I started this page when I was looking for family crests for the families that I have found related to Belchamp Walter's history.

The problem with the Wikitree page for the heraldry is that it cannot be text searched.

Wikitree Creep

While Wikitree is one of the better geneolical websites the participation of the users sometimes gives rise to information that is less than helpful. The pages on the Botetourts is a case in point.
