Parish Council Template
The template used for the Parish Council website was the original design that my current main design was based. It was based on the W3.css Framework Nature Portfolio and has been customised considerably.
While the two designs look similar there are fundamental differences between them. Initially I wanted to make them much different and I even designed a templates that were based on other W3.css examples. One of these was the pages that I have attempted for the Friends of Belchamp Walter Church.
Seeing that the "Friends" website was going nowhere and the Village Hall project has been handed back the the Village Hall Committee, alternative designs are largely unnecessary.
Seeing that the Parish Council website is the only website that the village is required to maintain as local government organisation it is often suggested that "a page on the Parish Council website" would be a good idea.
Various experiments have been performed in the promotion of events in the village. These have largely been an "accademic exercise" as the target audience do not use the Internet to make searches for local events. It has been observed that if residents or those who might be interested in local events are more likely to use Social Media.
The past experiments
I have tried to promote a Craft Fair and to a lesser extent a Plant Sale in the Church.
Both of these experiments were hosted on tempusfugit.me.uk. The Craft Fair experiment had multiple pages and some that featured the exhibitors. IT DID NOT WORK! The main reason for this was that Social Media, specifically Facebook, turned out to work against my efforts
eNews - a current experiment (Sept 2023)
The first 2 editions of the Belchamp Walter eNews were being found by searches as they were hosted on this website. I have deleted them and requested that they be removed from the Google index. These, and the new eNews editions, have been added to the page on the Parish Council website.
ALL references and links to enews and quiz nights are being removed from tempufugit. It is my intention that these only appear on Parish Council pages. This is also the same as the Village Hall page as this has disappeared from the Google search as the Wordpress website continues to be broken. If you are reading this it was not broken by me but the new owner of the Wordpress account.
A downside of this process was that my re-indexing quota was affected as I was making too many requests.
I have a new page for the PCC. I have to be careful not to over-write the version that is currently on the PC server for the Friends of Belchamp Walter Church.
I also need to make an up-to-date sitemap for the Parish Council website.
The Template
I have created a new template for the PC pages and it is in the BWPC directory.
While it is still in development a number of pages have been created using it. There is a Village Hall and a PCC page on the Parish Council website.
