The limitations of database for Historical reporting

Having gleaned a lot of information from on-line sources that are based on family tree or another type of database and then trying to present that information in a format that I am happy with, I can see a number of limitations.

I have also realised that my approach could have been a little less than helpful. Referencing some of my sources on my featured pages was possibly annoying for a visitor that happend to find them. I am taking steps to improve this situation and I have been adding back links to where I found the information that I am presenting.

Google Cache and the Internet archive

In my re-writing of the external linking format I noticed the Google now list an option to look for previous versions of a webpage/site by looking at the Internet Archive's database of captured pages. Many of the pages that I had previously referenced were not available and the Internet Archive appeared to be in a state of reconfiguation.

Many of the links in genealogical databases are to the Internet Archive, particualrly WikiTree.
