The Fleeting Nature of Websites

Contrary to poplar opinion the Internet is not "The Fountain of all Knowledge". Information is only there if it is unloaded and will only remain if it is maintained and somebody pays the bill for domain registration and web hostiing.

I give thanks to Alan Freer for his research which I found making Internet searches for names that I had found on the wall of St. Mary's Belchamp Walter. Alan expresses the sentiment that is the title of this page. He realises that he will not be around for ever and as such he is uploading his research to Ancestry.com.

Acknowledging that you will have to pay for this information should his site no longer exist he also shares my view that you should not have to pay for this information.

Copies of research

An example is the work of Alan Freer on the Descendants of William the Conqeror. I made a local copy of his HTML
