Fibre Internet went "live" in Belchamp Walter late 2020. Many homes now have Internet speeds of 400MB/sec upload and download.

The installation is a mixture of fibre strung on poles and the rest buried underground. The fibre that was buried is in much of the village around the crossroads, along Gestingthorpe, Hall, Soft and Gages roads.

When questioned on the fact that CBB, or its contrators, had dug up most of the village closing roads for a protracted period only to have the fibre strung from poles, they said that all they were doing was in the interest of getting done as quickly as possible. I have a copy of the reply (posted below) I note that there was no acknowledgement that there was disruption in the village which may have not been necessary.

The reply from CBB:

" Thank you for taking the time to contact us in regards to the full Fibre broadband project in your village of Belchamp Walter.

Please be advised that all of our full Fibre broadband projects are complex in nature and we utilise any existing infrastructure where possible to speed up the delivery of the service whilst decreasing the disruption caused for the installation.

This will likely be the reason as to why part of the village is being fed overhead and some other parts of the village project are being fed underground, we of course will install new infrastructure where applicable to ensure we connect as many signed up residents as possible.
