Domesday and North Essex and Suffolk - 1086

Having retrieved information on Thunderlow, the entries for neighbouring areas need to be discussed. The Belchamp's in the 11th Century were administered by Tenents in Chief, Belchamp Walter was "the Land of Aubrey de Vere".

The region of Belchamp St Paul's was "owned" by the Canons of St. Paul's London, hence its name.

The lands of the Canons of St. Paul includes all of the Belchamps, including Thunderlow (Belchamp Walter).

The Belchamps

My research started with Belchamp Walter and then extended to Belchamp Otten and St Paul's. The Belchamps are covered on seperate page.
