Cartularium Saxonicum was quoted in the Belchamp Walter history as told by the Village Hall. I can find no such reference in the copy of Birch's work that relates to the village.

Birch's Cartularium Saxonicum is a possible source for the 904 date that appears on the Belchamp Walter village sign.
Walter de Gray Birch (1842–1924) was an English historian, editor and author. He is best known for his Cartularium Saxonicum — A Collection of Charters Relating to Anglo-Saxon History, which supersede John Mitchell Kemble's Codex Diplomaticus Aevi Saxonici.
