I can't see what the problem is with in just making a simple list. The embedding of a Google Calendar, while interesting, does not seem to work.

I had a few theories one how I could present this. At first I thought I could create a new class that displays list items conditionally, Special events only and All events. However, the w3-hide classes do this for me anyway. Turning the mobile device on its side seems to work. I can't really see that having a button or menu option would work in this case.

Prototype

What I have here is a prototype of how I think the events for the year could be displayed

I have coded the page so that it only displays the "special" events when viewed on a phone. To see all the events the visitor has to turn their phone on its side. As I am not part of the team putting these events together and promoting them I cannot tell them what to do.

I took the events from the VH websites embedded Google Calendar, which in my opinion does not provide a good way of presenting upcoming events. I guess the logic here is that the calendar can be updated on the computer of the "person in-charge" and it will then be available to anyone visiting the website.

There was a list that was produced for the events for 2024 that appeared in the Belchamp Walter e-News, episode 13, 16th May 2024. This was a manual list but I don't see why it would be difficult to maintain as events occur and become past events. As there were only a few events released by the Village Hall Committee at the time of the publication of the e-News additional events were taken from the Village Hall website's Events Calendar.

The list below was compiled in late 2024 - some of the events have either been dropped or the dates changed.

For example, the Race Night has been changed from 8 March to 26 September 2025. Death by Chocolate seems to have disappeared. It was rather close to the 3rd Village Talk.
