Petal Search

Seen in logs for Parish Council and tempusfugit websites:

The searches could have been: "Belchamp Walter Village Hall".

Searches finding this website will not be recorded by Google Search Console but will be by Analytics. Similarly, requesting pages be indexed by Google will not mean that they are indexed by Bing and other search engines. The inclusion in these indices will follow the normal indexing methods, i.e. regular visits from search engine robots.

What Huawei say:

Huawei also claim that the search cannot be tracked and is GDPR compliant.

Petal Search (also known simply as Petal) is a mobile Search-based application for Android, owned and operated by Huawei and aimed at allowing users to find apps and web results delivered by Microsoft Bing.
It originally had an independent search engine under the same name available on the web, but it was quietly discontinued on June 25th, 2023.[1][2]

The Petal suite of search, mail, and maps were created in response to sanctions that barred Huawei from using Google Mobile Services. The engine provides comprehensive search functionality including text, voice, visual, news, video, app, shopping, travel, and local searches. It can present mobile app results from the Huawei AppGallery and other trusted app stores.
Petal's design, which includes a dark mode, is based on a mobile-first approach. Launched globally, the service is especially focused on European markets and supports 55 languages in 170 countries and regions as of November 2021.

The Petal Search app is available in the Huawei AppGallery and the Apple App Store.

The search string for the website access is not logged, but this is also the case with Google Search - so much for added security and "ingonito mode".

What Huawei say about Ingonito Mode:

Your searches will not be tracked by cookies - I don't use cookies to track in any case!

Tracking

When a search is made using Google if a page containing the content (search terms) is in the Google Index there will be a record of that in the Search Console report in the form of an "Impression". If the link in the SERP is followed this will be recorded as a "Click"

Searches finding pages that result in a visit will always be recorded by Analytics unless JavaScript is disabled on the visitors browser. The Google Analytics tracking code will record both realtime visits and those over time. Server-logs will always record visits regardless of method of access and software used.
