Non-Organic SEO

In my research for SEO services applicable to my community I found that searches for the actual village name appeared to contain automatically generated content or the result of a "paid" search.

It is my belief that to obtain the best results you should follow the guidelines set out by Google (and possibly other seach engine providers), and not use "artificial" methods to manipulate search results.

I am a great believer in "Organic Search".

When I searched for local eNews

The result that I obtained did in fact contain the village name and eNews but it was totally irrelevant to what I was looking for.

This is similar to many searches for services that may be local to the area. I know that Google's algorithm is touted to "enhance" the search experience by choosing what text to use for its SERPS, but I suspect in these cases the webmasters and authors of websites have "harvested" all the possible locations within a specific geographical area and have applied their own automatic process linking it with services that they are trying to promote.
