How-to Live Stream
Live-Streaming has become popular since the advent of Covid-19 and the acceptance of streamed media in general. The traditional methods of media distribution has now, 2022, become a digital endeavour.
The author of this website has his roots in the analog era, however, the pursuit of doing things in a digital manner has a very active part of his career.
Having been made aware that Long Melford Church live-stream their services and that they are looking to expand this to their other events such as their lunchtime concerts.
Way back in 2011, or before, I was asked to see if I could access the BBC from Canada. To cut a long story short I did manage to do this and there was much experimentation with TOR and VPNs. In addition to this there were a couple of programs that I was using to download the BBC programs so that I didn't have to stream them. At the time this was advantageous as connection speeds, especially using TOR, were often very slow.

One of the programs that I got involved was get_iplayer.
As you can see in the thumbnail
above these were the days of Windows 7!
A streaming server
The downloading of a media file from a server is not a problem as this can be handled by the browser and no specialised software is really needed for the consumer of the media. A service such as You Tube, Vimeo or Facebook is required in most simple cases as the consumer or audience of the stream need to logged into the service to allow the upload of the media stream.
RTMP
I have some old pages that I will revive for the historical record.
Using TOR to access a Live Stream
In most cases a streamed service will be intended for a specific geographic area. Theoretically TOR could be used to overcome this restriction but it is likely to be far too slow to sustain the data transfer required.
Background to this page
When I was looking at RTMP in 2011 to 2014 I did have this website but its coverage as far as people making Internet searches and finding my pages was very limited. SInce that time I have learnt a lot about SEO and the Internet has also changed dramtically. These were the days before Social Media, or at least it was in its infancy and Social Media was mainly blogs and forums dedicated to specific topics.
