I formerly had this on my webpage design. I dropped it as I didn't find it particularly useful and I hard-coded a date that the page was created so that the visitor could see how up-to-date the page was.

I think that I started to do this as I was concerned about the proliferation of Outdated information that was to be found on the Internet and the frustration with those that published articles and did not add a date of authourship.
