The Jetpack Mobile App
The Jetpack Mobile App is available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store
While automattic.com (wordpress.com) advertise the Jetpack App on their main site, Jetpack also have a seperate website/portal that seems to imply that it is a "stand-alone" solution to building a Wordpress website.
If the app is of any use it is for the monitoring of the traffic that your Wordpress site is getting.
Reading the reviews on both the Apple Store and Google Play the jury seems to be out whether the mobile app is good or bad.
Using the App to monitor site accesses
As I say the use that I think is where the app can be useful is in that you can monitor how many visits your site is getting. I do, however, think that this a parallel to the Facebook "Like" button.
The screenshot above shows the views of the pages on a website. It seems that you have the option of selecting a daily, weekly or monthly view. In any case the number of views and the number of visitors is depicted in the bar graph display.
However, if the website is accessed by someone using TOR these statistics can be totally wrong! I can't say if I would do this! The fact that a Facebook user can think that a Wordpress website is something that they could administer is stupid.
Those users that spend an inordinate amount of their time on their mobile phones are also those that are likely to use the mobile app if they are running a Wordpress website. They will be very interested in who has visited the site and what they had looked at.
I give credit to Wordpress in that their statistics agregator ignores visits from the person logged into the subscription and only those coming from genuine visitors and those accesses where the members of the Wordpress team are logged out of Wordpress.
