Storing Drone Media on iPad Pro

When I first started using the iPad Pro I found that not only was it good to fly the drone it was also handy to store the photos and videos in "Files".

My plan was to organise the files on the iPad and then back them up to a removable drive. First I found that a portable hard-drive, such as the WD Elements 4T drive, would not be recognised by the iPad even though it was powered through a powered USB hub. This was due to the incompatibity with/or the file system/drivers of the two. I was encouraged as the iPad could communicate with a USB memory stick so I assumed that if I had a thumbdrive of sufficient capacity I could simply copy the organised files to the drive.

Having also purchased a new notebook that had a USB C port, I thought that a large USB C drive could be used on the iPad Pro and on the new computer.

What I concluded

My plans did not work. The USB drive when used on the iPad was not consistant enough to achieve my goal. Copy and pasting a large number (of large files) was too slow using the Files app on the iPad.
