International Genealogical Index (IGI)

It is not clear looking at the FamilySearch.org website if IGI is propriatary to the Church of Jesus Christ and Later Day Saints or an independantly generated index

The term IGI was used on the Malet Family History website (mallettfamilyhistory.org).

The indexed International Genealogical Index collection searches all historical record collections containing indexed records taken from the original International Genealogical Index (IGI). Names in the original IGI came from 2 different sources: indexed records and user contributions. FamilySearch split the IGI into several historical record collections plus the Contributed International Genealogical Index. Search all relevant historical record collections here. Search user contributions in the Contributed International Genealogical Index collection in Genealogies.

Contributed International Genealogical Index

A large archive of historical data originally submitted by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that has since been closed. Entries include a name and at least one life event.

The Ancestry Insider

This was a blog run by an employee of LDS and the last post was in 2017. The "by-line" was:

The unofficial, unauthorized view of Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org. The Ancestry Insider reports on, defends, and constructively criticizes these two websites and associated topics.

The author attempts to fairly and evenly support both.

I am not sure how the author attempted to support both as I am now pretty sure that they are one and the same (2023)
