The menus on my History Pages and Timeline
When viewed on a large screen you will see a menu as shown below:
The top fixed menu is an expandable dropdown, in the case shown above the menu items are for English Kings from William the Conquerer to Henry IV. The other dropdowns are for other Kings and specific centuries.
The other menus are NOT displayed when viewed on a Smartphone. This is by design as the page for the Timeline is not really a page that such a menu would work. All the pages are accessible on a smartphone but the Timeline requires too many menu options for proper navigation.
How-to use the menu system
When viewing on a large screen such as that on a laptop, desktop or most tablets the menus can be used to navigate to specific entries on the timeline page. This can be by date (century) or ruler (King or Queen).
There are links on the timeline page that take you specific pages on this website with more information on events around the selected date in the timeline.
The menus on the timeline page are far more extensive than any other page on this website. The menu system is the result of many hours of development in an attempt to present information in the best possible way.
Items on the drop-down menus that have a yellow background are to links on the same page. Those that have a blue background are to other page on this website
Level of complication
As with many things on this website, epecially the nature of the dropdowns (the colour of the background is a good example), are a an indication that they far too complicated for most visitors.
Seeing that in most instances the pages will be viewed on a mobile device there is little point in explaining the menus in great detail.
