The Toxicity of Facebook/Meta

As Mark Zuckrberg announced that the company name will be changed to Meta, the toxic nature of Facebook is starting to be discussed. The widespread acceptance of Facebook seems to be unquestioned apart from a few whistle-blowers.

The question I have is how toxic is Facebook and should there really be a concern about having a stance of "Profit over Safety"? The desire for profit is nothing new and the use of a network by those that feel the need to bully and abuse other users is going to happen despite any laws and regulations that are introduced. The very nature of Social Media and the fact that it is a global phenomina make it pretty much impossible to control.

The Big Blue App

One of the reasons that Mark gave for the renaming was to differentiate between Facebook (referred to as "The Big Blue App") from other products such as Instagram, WhatsApp and other Facebook owned products.
