Dates

The recording of dates can be "a little hit and miss".

Dates we do know

1066/1086 - Norman Conquest/Battle of Hastings/Domesday

1144 - the death of Geoffrey de Mandeville and the marriage of Roshe de Vere to Payne de Beauchamp.

1324 - the death of Sir John de Botetourt - his activities at the time of Edward I and Edward II are well documented.

1611 -

Dates that we are unsure

The date that the medieval wall paintings were painted. 1330 is a good starting point but we don't know for sure. The Nave is 14th century so it can't be too much before.

The date of the chantry chapel - I am guessing 1370-1390. A Botetourt died before or at this time, the 1st is recorded as 1324, which is too early in my estimation.

The dates of the tombs in the aisle of the Nave - 1425 and 1435. These come from EASH research and there is no cross-reference to whom they commemorated. Sir Robert Swynborne
