Community Websites

I think I understand why members of a community today prefer to use Social Media than visit websites that are dedicated to their community.

You can create a community profile on Facebook and those that are already Facebook users have no reason to look elsewhere.

Social Media platforms are intrinsically interactive and allow easy methods to make posts and to comment on others postings.

Users of Social Media get "push" notifications of posts that are in their "world view". While this can be added to a community website, it is not the norm.
