Aberden Hall - Nicholas Berners

Aberden or Amberden Hall in Finchingfield or Codham Hall in Gosfield is related to the name Nicolas Berners (Barneys).

The Gosfield connection is through Sir John Wentworth of Gosfield who was the "owner" of the Belchamp Estate before it was sold to the Raymond family in 1611. The accounts given by Thomas Wright in his History and Topgraphy of Essex, 1831/36 is a little hard to follow as it contains many family names for which there is little modern confirmation.

The Berners name is associated with Sir Robert Swynbourne who had substansial estates in Essex.
