Wordpress Forms

Having spent many hours on this I have a few observations in 2023.

The village hall website is a case in point here.

In addition to the baic contact form, now a Jetpack block object, the Village Hall had a number of booking forms. The booking forms were reasonably simple but they had limited scope for customisation.

Contact form

I have created a contact form on the practice site to see if it receives spam.

April 2023 - so far I have not been spammed.

Login and Logout

There is a Log In block in the Block Editor so I tried that out as well.

Since re-visiting this topic I have now documented the work that I started in 2020. I see that I performed a lot of work on developing my own PHP forms before I decided to leave the Wordpress forms as they were originally developed.

I subsequently disabled the forms when "lock-down" was in force and there was no activity at the Village Hall. In addition, there was no aparent interest in the website in general so there was little point in trying to get the forms to work.

Now in 2024, the site is now being "revived" and the forms are being worked on again by the new owner. Performing further research it seems that there is much debate on what can be achieved using wordpress.com with respect to the creation and use of forms. Like so many other things, to get something that actually works you probably need to implement a 3rd party solution.
