When your Wordpress.com subscription expires

If you take Wordpress.com up on their offer of a "free" domain name for a year when you take out your subscription then you should be aware that Wordpress.com will have control of that domain as it will be registered to them.

If you want to transfer this domain name, which you will be told that you own, you will find that you cannot do so.

When you try to access your website after it has transitioned to a "free" Wordpress site you will see the message below:

This is an indication that the domain is still "live" but is not "connected" to your website.
