Ubuntu Linux

Page dedicated to George Alagiah - 1955 - 2023

Back in 2008/2009 I thought it might be an idea to run Linux on one of PCs. I experiemented with various "flavours" of Linux, including Debian, Red Hat (Fedora) and Ubuntu.

I admit, that as an aspiring "hacker", I was of the opinion that you needed to be a "Linux Nut" to be taken seriously.

I even setup a Virtual Machine environment where I could run multiple versions of Linux and other operating systems on a Windows computer.

Focal Fossa - 20.04 LTS

Below is the release of Ubuntu current in March 2022 - it is running on a Microsoft Surface Windows computer from a bootable USB stick.

Ubuntu nicknames

The realease at the time of writing this is "Focal Fossa" 20.04, I started to look at Ubuntu I was running "Feisty Fawn" 7.04.

I continued with Fiesty upgrading through "Gutsy Gibon" and ended with a webserver running "Karmic Koala".

The Internet of Things

In re-wrting this page I was looking back on some of my earlier work and came across my observatons on IoT, Windows Vista (dual-booting with WindowsXP) and other topics related to hacking and the use of the Raspberry Pi.

Making Screenshots

The goal here is to document what I am doing with Linux.
