Research Shim

A pop-up for accessing research links page.

Using the code I developed for a Link Shim, to emulate what Facebook does with links to other websites, I want a shim that displays a message explaining why the visitor will not be directly routed to the external website.

In this case it is not for security reasons, rather a functional one and not wanting to upset the visitor and hopefully allowing me to track their interest at the same time. The research page will only be loaded if the visitor opts to do so and they will be informed why they will not go directly to the external website.

Incorporation into template

Not all pages will require a shim. The Wikipedia links do exist on a number of pages and it would be good to have an pop-up when these are clicked. The code could be generated "on the fly". I will have review my pages on create_whatever.

On further thought I think that I will shim all of my external links. The text will be that tempusfugit.me.uk is a non=commercial site and gains no advantage or payment by placing links to external websites.
