A Stylesheet for printing

The Stylesheet for printing pages on this website is really simple. The main style element is the suppression of elements that have now relevance to the printed version.

I am sure that the stylesheet will get a whole lot more complicated as I develop it but the requirements are not that great as I see them at the present time.

Items that need to be hidden include navigational elements such as GoToTop buttons and some headers. The mobile banner needs to be suppressed as does the mobile-more menu.

The approach:

I have created a class "noprint" that I add to elements that I don't want to print.

The sitepoint.com website gives a lot of tips on what you can do with a printer-friendly webpage. There are many attributes that can be placed in the print.css file that can control the page formating. Page Breaks (conditional and otherwise) can be added or prevented. For this website the capabilities are overkill as I don't need to make many pages printable.

The "Brasses" page

This is an example of a page where I wanted to be able to print from the webspage to produce a "hand-out" or a stand alone information sheet to be used in the church. I could also do this for the Church Guide and the wall paintings.

There is a copy of the Church Guide available for print in PDF format.
