Google Play

As I use Thomas Wright's book "The History and Topography of Essex" as a starting point for my background for local history the removal of links to the scan of the book on Google Play is a little problematic.

While I have no major problem in visitors clicking on this link to Google Play it is not of much use to them as the orignal text is not easy to read and it seems to depend on the device that it is accessed. There is a Google Play app for iOS and presumably for other mobile formats. The iOS app does not allow the visitor to search the book.

In some cases I have placed the full URL on the page so it can be copied and pasted in your browser. Where I have not this page can be used to access Google Play and then it can be searched for the location or a name.

Starting with Belchamp Walter I now find that Thomas Wright is an invaluable source for historical information on neighbouring villages. This particularly useful from an Edwardian perspective as the H&T of Essex was written in 1831/36 and is before many more modern accounts. Thomas Wright was pretty thorough ib his research but
