George III - reign 1760-1820 (60 Years)

George II was the king of Great Britain and Ireland from 25 October 1760 until his death in 1820.

Dispite his log reign, George was not really an effective king for a large proportion of this period. For many years Prince George, his son who was to become George IV was Prince Regent and was "in-charge" of state affairs.

The Regency, 1780's to 1836/7, saw the end of American Revolution and the signing of the Declaration of Independance, 4 July 1776. America was lost to the British under George III watch but the Prince Regent was the monarch that had influence at that time.

Prior to the reign of George III the residents of Belchamp Hall were largely occupied in the running of the Hall while the estate was being managed by Thomas Ruggles (1741 - 1865)
