The Rump Parliament and Supreme Authority, Nominated Parliament
Preceeding the Protectrate Parliaments the Long Parliament, summoned by Charles I in 1640, was replaced by the Rump Parliament in 1653 as it had become a "revolutionary body" and in opposition to the King.
The Supreme Authority led to the regicide in 1649.
