Belchamp Walter Parliament

The record of Oliver Raymond as being the MP for Essex in the parliaments of 1653 and 1656 is a little unclear in its origin.

The Rump Parliament and Supreme Authority, Nominated Parliament

Preceeding the Protectrate Parliaments the Long Parliament, summoned by Charles I in 1640, was replaced by the Rump Parliament in 1653 as it had become a "revolutionary body" and in opposition to the King.

The Supreme Authority led to the regicide in 1649.
