Wentworth Woodhouse

There is a bit of a coincidence here, the grand ball in the first Downton Abbey movie was filmed at Wentworth Woodhouse, the opening sequence of The New Era was filmed at Belchamp Walter. The Wentworth family are associated with both places.

The history of the Wentworth family seems to be quite extensive.

The family name is key to Belchamp Walter and Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford, is also key to the Civil War. Thomas condemed to death for treason by Charles I and Oliver, of this parish, was a member of Oliver Cromwells parliaments.

This is where there is a motherload of references. I need to research this further to try and work out what happened before and after the Civil War. The Wentworth's seem to have emigrated to America.
