Using YouTube on your web pages

While I can see that this may be attractive to many I am not so sure. If there is no other way that you can add video content to your pages, I guess that this could be a solution. I am not sure whether this looks very professional. Also, if you are a competent web designer I don't see why you would be struggling with video formats??

The use of YouTube video, in an iframe, is an easy way out - As is the use of iframes in general. I also have a concern that Google are less than useful unless you are a "customer". I was surprised looking at my server logs (actually awstats) that visits were way down since I abandoned Google Analytics.

The W3C example

Plays a muted Muppet video of Bohemian Rapsody muted and autoplayed.

The W3C website makes the following comment about autoplay (what the video above does)

" Note: Automatically starting a video can annoy your visitor and end up causing more harm than good! "

The BWPC example

In this example I changed the link supplied to me that was a direct link to a YouTune page to include the /embed/ directory.

This technique obviates the need to create a thumbnail image for a iOS user to click on.
