The Hamburger Menu Icon

The Hamburger Menu Icon, shown below in an animated version, is the accepted icon for a menu on a webpage or app.

My webpage design uses an animated overlay side menu and the use of the hamburger icon does not make sense.

I have used the hamburger symbol on my design for the Parish Council website but I changed it to a button with the text "Menu" on this the main website.

The menu designs that I have implemented in the past have evolved considerably. When I started out most Internet access was from a computer, now the majority of access is through a mobile device.

The use of the dorop-down caret and the colour of the menu button I think enhances the "Mobile Experience". As usual there is a constant "tweeky" of the user interface and there is a constant exercise in editing exisiting pages.

When editing pages the menu button as seen on the mobile rendering needs to be priorotised.
