Notes on Church Crawler

I still haven't got the slidehow controls to do what I want.

At the moment I have two versions, most pages so far have an automatic slidehow with a Pause and Resume. When paused the next button works but there is no Previous button.

In some cases the manual slideshow will suffice. A case in point would be the main Church Crawler page.

The main Church Crawler page will eventually a Carousel Menu. The example linked here doe not have a variable screen timing (i.e. it an automatic slideshow).

Interval display

This is pretty much working as it should. The slideshows are best paused when links are being accessed. The slideshow is placed below the introduction and information on the trip the photos were taken but like so many other things the jumping of the links at the foot of the page will just be seen as annoying to the casual user. However, this is exactly what happens on the Wordpress Stats page.

Maps of the area

These are particulaly helpful when planning but serve as a memory device when reviewing the page after a time has passed and it may be forgotten where a church was located.

The churches can be marked on the maps using Paint.

Hiding and displaying controls

If I ever get the controls to work the way that I want I will also want to hide the "Previous" and "Next" buttons when the slideshow is running automatically and the "Pause", "Faster" and "Slower" buttons hidden when the slidehow is paused. The "Resume" button is hidden on startup and when the slideshow is automatic.

In the interim and when I am uploading images to a new page the "Next" button I may change the "Next" button to just a "+" symbol (because I can't get the "Previous" to work and I need to be able to step through the slides). In fact, this may well be acceptable for the final solution.

External Links

These can be to Simon Knott, Wikipedia and other information found to be relevant to the church, the area of other memorials found in the church.

Back-link to Crawler Index

The thumbnail on the large screen display links back to the relevent position on the main crawler page. The link on the image is of the format #links_dd_m.

Day-trip Summaries

Some pages may have these and will be linked on the date of the trip and possibly on the main Crawler page.

Scans of church guides

Where the church guides have been purchased I will try and scan them so that they can be accessed from the church page. This is a time consuming process and may take time to complete.

Server Space

I started to monitor this on the main Church Crawler page but if if were to be eventually found by the general public the notion of server space would not make any sense. It is much better tracked here.

The disk usage can be found in Plesk on the Websites and Domains page.
