William Camden

William Camden published Britannia in 1722.

William Camden's Britannia formed the basis on what the origins of the de Vere family are made.

My source text for the history of the region is Thomas Wright's History and Topography of Essex. Thomas Wright was a founder of the Camden Society. Wright seems to have based a lot of his earlier history on the work of Camden. The origins of the de Vere family were probably taken from Camden.

The Wikipedia page said:

William Camden (2 May 1551 – 9 November 1623) was an English antiquarian, historian, topographer, and herald, best known as author of Britannia, the first chorographical survey of the islands of Great Britain and Ireland that relates landscape, geography, antiquarianism, and history, and the Annales, the first detailed historical account of the reign of Elizabeth I of England.
